What an incredible night for the Waco goalkeeping community!

Last night, The Goalkeeper Lab teamed up with Warrior Way for a special guest clinic featuring Baylor University’s own Azul Alvarez. It’s not every day that young local keepers get to train alongside a Division I standout, and the energy on the pitch was electric from start to finish.
Training with a Pro
The focus of the evening was clear: technical precision and elite mindset. Azul brought a unique perspective to the session, sharing insights into the footwork and shot-stopping techniques that have made her a force at the collegiate level.
Watching the kids' faces light up as they received direct feedback from a player of Azul's caliber reminded me exactly why I started the Lab. It’s about more than just drills; it’s about inspiration.
Breaking Down the Session
We pushed the keepers through several high-intensity blocks, focusing on:
- Footwork: Using specific stepping patterns to cover the frame more efficiently.
- Decision Making: Knowing when to hold, parry, or punch in high-pressure scenarios.
- The Mentality of a No. 1: Azul spoke with the group about staying focused after a mistake—a crucial lesson for any young athlete.
What’s Next?
If you missed out on last night’s event, don't worry—we’re just getting started. This clinic was the perfect "kick-off" for what is going to be a massive summer.
The Goalkeeper Lab Summer Camps are officially on the horizon! We’ll be hosting a series of intensive camps right here in Waco, designed to take your game to the next level before the fall season hits.
A Huge Thank You: To the parents for your dedication, to Warrior Way for the collaboration, and to Azul Alvarez for giving back to the next generation of keepers.
Ready for the Summer? Keep an eye on our website and social media for camp dates and registration links. Spaces will be limited, and after last night’s turnout, they’re going to go fast!
Keep working, keep flying.
